Update week 2

No major things have been going on, but I'm making steady progress on several goals:

#37 - The fruit basket is back, and I usually have a pear or an apple after lunch.

#46 - On Sunday I cooked a stew with reindeer, a recipe I found in a magazine. Yum!
#48 - still going strong. This week so far, I've had a variation of pasta lunches, tomorrow I will have the above mentioned reindeer stew. I'll be away for the weekend starting Friday morning, so lunches will be eaten either out or at the conference centre.
#61/62 - no news on the Arabic class yet - I really hope it won't get cancelled!
#66/66/67 - The easy Sudoku every day is no problem. The medium every week is quite easy too (have already done this week's). I started with this month's hard one, and gosh that was a hard one for sure, but hey, 19 more days in this month, right?
#69 - Lots of things going on in Germany right now - dioxin this and dioxin that. Poor farmers is what I say!
#70 - I've started watching an episode of one of my favorite shows, Das Traumschiff. Oh sweet nostalgia!
#101 - I've looked into how much the Nintendo Wii will be, and now I know what I want for my birthday! :-) Either that, or this will just have to wait a while because 3000 kr is a little out of my budget right now...

The Reading Goals

Today I went to the library after work to pick up some books on my reading list. Since I have several lists (goals #1 through #8) I decided to pick up a few different books to see what I'm up for. And boy, I am up for quite a challenge!

I know, I know, it's 1001 days, not 1 year, but still... Around 160 books to read, which means 1 book every week. For some of the shorter ones this won't be a problem. I did however pick up a couple of books from the "German list" today, amongst which Robert Musil's "The Man Without Qualities" which is a whopping 1584 pages! Let's hope the other 159 aren't as hefty!

I will read all German books in German, all English books in English and the few Swedish books in Swedish. I have some French books on the 33 list, thus the goal of reading 1 novel in French. It has been quite some time since I last read a novel in French (not since uni in 2002 I think) so this will be quite a challenge.

But, as with all other goals: Let's get on with it!

Saving goals for later...

While browsing Jönköping's online newspaper I realised that one of my goals, #85 (Visit Jönköping County Museum) will have to wait until May 2012 due to parts of the museum (with the most important exhibition) being closed because of bugs. Yes, bugs, namely silverfish. On the paintings. Euh...

Several goals in progress

I really want to get a head start on this project in order to make it easier for me to accomplish my goals and to get some good habits out of this whole thing. So far, I have layed the ground work for several goals (click above for the list):

#31 - This year's appointment made (Jan 19th).
#32 - Printed out the registration forms yesterday, will hand them in next week.
#37 - Bringing fruit to work this week - the complimentary fruit basket won't be back until next week.
#41 - Exchanged addresses with an American swapper for the Artifact Paint Pot (3 more to go).
#48 - So far so good!
#61 - Signed up for beginner's Arabic - fingers crossed the course will actually take place!
#62 - See above!
#65 - So far so good!
#68 - This week's word - Lithe!
#78 - Will be a task for the fall.
#81 - Oh my. Gave one song a try yesterday night. I sure have some work to do. So far I can manage all songs at 80% in Easy Full Speed. This is going to be tricky!

Let's get on with it!

First goal accomplished!

Well, this was an easy one, but seeing as you are reading this post right now, goal #9 (Create a 101 things blog) is completed! Only 100 more goals to go!

101 things

Other people make a couple of New Year's resolutions. I decided to take on a bigger challenge and joined the 101 things project, aka. Day Zero Project. This blog is meant to serve as a ressource for myself to keep track of my goals and for all of you to have a sneak peak at what's going on in my life. Starting Jan 2nd 2011 I have exactly 1001 days (until September 29th, 2013) to achieve 101 goals, set by myself (well, a couple of them might be inspired by hubby). It took a while to come up with 101 meaningful goals, but I think I have a nice mixture of both short term and long term goals.

The entire list can be found here.
